Biography
Thomas Henlich was born in Dresden, Germany. He studied mechanical engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering at Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden), graduating with the academic degree of Diplom-Ingenieur (Dipl.-Ing.). His engineering background encompasses mechanical systems design, drive technology, gear analysis, and dynamic engineering calculation.
He operates Henlich Engineering based in Heilbronn, Baden-Württemberg, providing specialized technical consulting, dimensioning, computation, and engineering services for commercial clients in the automotive and drive technology sectors.
Beyond mechanical engineering, Henlich has been an active contributor to open-source computing, digital typography, web utilities, and structured data projects since the late 1990s. His work ranges from maintaining widespread LaTeX font and symbol packages on CTAN to developing Cyrillic transliteration tools and contributing glyph specifications to open font families.
